Sustainability Ten Tips
Ten tips for a greener vacation
1. Try not to waste water - don’t leave the tap running when you’re brushing your teeth and perhaps take a shower instead of a bath.
2. Recycle in your room by placing anything for recycling in the special bag that you’ll find in your room – our staff will collect it when they clean your room.
3. Hand in your old batteries to reception, along with any small used appliances that you no longer need, which can be recycled.
4. Don’t ask for your towels and sheets to be changed every day if you don’t feel it’s necessary. If you leave your towels in the bath, we’ll know that you want them changed.
5. Raise the temperature setting on the air-conditioning unit or lower the setting on the heating unit by a couple of degrees - you’ll hardly notice the difference, but the energy saving is significant.
6. Try to cut down on the number of plastic bags you use when shopping – or even better, do without them altogether. If you’d like to have a Sani re-usable cloth bag, ask the staff at reception or get one at all the resort’s mini-markets where they’re sold at cost price.
7. Use a natural, biodegradable sun protection product as scientists believe the death of various different marine organisms is due to the 4,000-6,000 tones of sun protection products coming off swimmers into the sea each year. Also remember to apply your sun cream 30 minutes before going out into the sun, re-apply every 45 minutes and always wear a hat.

8. Ask the staff about the forest and forest paths – they’ll be happy to give you a map and a guide to the local species of flora and fauna you’ll see on your walk.
9. When you leave, please donate one Euro to the local tree-planting initiative, which is working to reforest the wooded areas of Halkidiki that were destroyed in the fires of 2006.
10. Let us know what you think we could be doing better. Your feedback is critical in order for us to further improve upon our environmental performance.
